MozgásKlinika’s protocol recommends 12 treatments at level one of the MozgásPiramis®, twice a week during the painful phase. The reason is professional, not commercial: tissues adapting and movement being relearned both need regular stimulus in sufficient amount, which occasional one-off sessions do not provide. The exact number of sessions can still never be guaranteed in advance.
What happens at level one of the MozgásPiramis®?
The MozgásPiramis® has five levels that build on each other: pain relief, restoring joint range of motion, developing muscle strength, building functional stability, and returning to full activity. Level one deals with the current pain and complaint.
At this level manual therapy and physiotherapy are used in roughly equal proportion. Manual therapy does more than ease pain: through joint mobilisation and sensory input it creates a better position for relearning movement. Physiotherapy turns that change into active control.
Why exactly 12, twice a week?
The body needs time and repetition
Tissue adaptation and motor learning do not happen in one treatment. If too much time passes between sessions, the next one is partly a restart. That is why the clinic recommends two sessions a week in the painful early phase, and fewer later, adjusted to your condition.
The programme works in blocks
A 12-session block runs over roughly three months. In that time it becomes clear how you respond, and the therapist decides on the next step from a re-assessment: fewer sessions may be enough, or the work of the next level may follow.
No two cases are the same
Twelve sessions is a protocol, not a promise. How many you need depends on your individual response and the professional assessment. You receive a plan and an estimate at the first consultation.
Why not stop when the pain eases?
In MozgásKlinika’s experience, level one has the highest drop-out: many people stop as soon as the acute pain goes down. That is understandable, but being pain-free is not the same as being fully rehabilitated. If range of motion, strength and movement control are not rebuilt, load tolerance stays low and the risk of the problem returning grows.
So the goal is not simply “no pain”, but function and load tolerance rebuilt to the right level. What happens at the top of the pyramid is covered in Medical Fitness or a personal trainer?
How can you book the 12 sessions?
One by one, or with a pass. At the Terézváros clinic SpineMemo (a 12-session physiotherapy programme) costs 250,000 HUF and Spine Therapy (a 12-session manual therapy and physiotherapy programme) 265,000 HUF; passes are valid for 3 months. See prices and passes and how much physiotherapy costs.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to buy the 12-session pass?
No. You can book single sessions; the pass is good value for those who complete the whole programme.
What if I get better sooner?
The therapist re-assesses you regularly and adapts the plan. Moving on depends on the limits of the current level being resolved, not on whether 12 sessions have passed.
