In short: physiotherapy (gyógytorna) is done by you, manual therapy is done by the therapist’s hands, and physical therapy (fizikoterápia) uses devices such as TENS or ultrasound to support pain relief. At MozgásKlinika Terézváros these are not alternatives but parts of one treatment plan, and the assessment decides how much of each you need.

Physiotherapy: the active part

Physiotherapy is not a few exercises shown to you, but a planned, active phase of treatment. It develops muscle activation, movement control, strength and stability, and leads you gradually back to work or sport.

Manual therapy: hands-on treatment

In manual therapy the therapist uses targeted techniques to improve joint movement, work on the soft tissues and help reduce pain. It is not a stand-alone fix: it opens a window for relearning movement, which active work then follows.

Physical therapy: device-based support

Physical therapy at the clinic means TENS, ultrasound, cupping, kinesiology taping and flossing. It mainly supports pain relief, as part of the treatment plan.

Why “and”, not “or”?

In MozgásKlinika’s approach, passive change has to be turned into active control. Hands-on treatment creates a better starting position, and physiotherapy builds the change into your movement. That is why the most common format is combined therapy: hands-on treatment plus physiotherapy, or plus physical therapy, in one 50-minute session (24,990 HUF).

The MozgásPiramis® shows how the balance shifts during recovery: more hands-on treatment in the painful first phase, more active work and load later.

How is it decided what you need?

Not by the name of the symptom. The same complaint, lower back pain for example, can go with different functional problems, so treatment always starts with the 60-minute first assessment. The therapist recommends treatment from it, and treatment starts in the same session; see what happens at your first visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have manual therapy only?

You can book a hands-on session on its own, but for a lasting result the therapist will usually recommend active exercises with it, because the change has to be integrated into movement.

Can physical therapy be booked on its own?

Yes, at the Terézváros clinic there is a stand-alone 20-minute session (16,000 HUF), booked by phone. Most patients receive it combined with manual therapy.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on your condition and cannot be guaranteed in advance. You get a plan and an estimate at the first consultation; prices and passes are explained in how much physiotherapy costs.

You do not have to choose between the three: the assessment shows which one is needed when. Book a consultation (opens in a new tab)
