The MozgásPiramis® (Movement Pyramid) is MozgásKlinika’s own treatment method, created by Rita Szentiványi, physiotherapist and manual therapist and the network’s professional lead. Its core idea is that rehabilitation is not a series of unrelated treatments but a process of five levels that build on each other. Every treatment at MozgásKlinika Terézváros is based on it.
Who created the MozgásPiramis®?
Rita Szentiványi earned her BSc in physiotherapy in 2006 and her manual therapy qualification in 2008 at Semmelweis University, and her MSc in physiotherapy in 2017 at the University of Pécs. Besides the MozgásPiramis®, she also created the StrapTherapy method.
Still, the method is not about one person. In MozgásKlinika’s approach the knowledge lives in the system: the network’s clinics work from the same professional thinking, shared training and quality assurance, whichever physiotherapist you see.
What idea is it built on?
That less pain is not yet the end of rehabilitation. The goal is function, movement and load tolerance rebuilt to the right level, and that needs an order: until the limits of one level are resolved, the work of the next cannot build on it properly.
Two features of the method follow from this:
- It starts with an examination. Treatment cannot begin with a technique chosen in advance; first you have to understand what limits movement. That is what the 60-minute first assessment is for.
- It turns passive change into active control. Manual therapy creates a better starting position, and physiotherapy builds the change into movement.
What do the five levels mean in practice?
- Pain relief: treating the current pain and complaint with manual therapy and physiotherapy.
- Restoring joint range of motion: with mobilisation and active exercise.
- Developing muscle strength and capacity: where needed, by first relearning the right muscle activation.
- Functional stability and movement control: practising everyday, work or sport movements.
- Return to full load: gradually, then keeping the result with a Medical Fitness programme.
Which level you are on is decided not by the name of the symptom but by your current functional state. The levels are described in detail on the MozgásPiramis® page.
How do you meet it at the clinic?
At the first visit the therapist tells you which level you are on and what the next priority is. At level one the clinic recommends 12 sessions, twice a week; Why 12 sessions? gives the reasons. The top of the pyramid is covered in Medical Fitness or a personal trainer?
A consultation with Rita Szentiványi can also be requested at the Terézváros clinic (45,000 HUF per session, arranged by phone), but the point of the method is that you receive the same professional system from any of the clinic’s physiotherapists. Book a consultation (opens in a new tab)
Frequently asked questions
Is the MozgásPiramis® only available at MozgásKlinika?
The MozgásPiramis® is MozgásKlinika’s trademark and own method; the network’s clinics work with it.
Does every patient start at level one?
Not necessarily. The assessment sets the starting point; someone who arrives not with pain but, for example, with a lack of strength or stability has a different next step.
How long does it take to go through the levels?
There is no general answer, and the number of sessions cannot be guaranteed in advance. Moving on depends on the limits of the current level being resolved.
